Highlands and Islands Transport Partnership (HITRANS)

HITRANS is the statutory transport partnership for the Highlands and Islands. It works with councils, Transport Scotland and operators on projects that improve access to employment, healthcare, education and other essential services. Over six years, its team grew from eight to 22 full-time equivalents, largely through external funding for projects. Its submission highlights work across modes to address the distinct transport challenges of rural and island communities.
